Larry C. Otten, O.D.   Sept. 22, 1951 - April 7, 2022

Larry was the beloved husband of Sally (Borm) Otten. He was born September 22, 1951, to Ray and Carolyn Otten in Renton, WA. As a child, he had many fond memories of family road trips with his parents and little sister Janice (Brazeau - Yakima). Larry attended Sammamish H.S., class of 1970, where he met Sally during driver's ed. She caught his eye and he never looked away. They were married on July 1, 1972.

He went on to attend UW for his undergraduate degree and the Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, TN ('77). In 1978, he established the Queen Anne Optometry Clinic in Seattle and in 2006 took over the Redmond Eye Clinic. Larry was passionate about caring for others. He treasured the patients he got to know over the 35 years of practicing optometry.

Larry's greatest pride and joy was his family. At their home in Kirkland, Larry and Sally raised three children together: Matt, Pete, and Becky. He enjoyed coaching many of their youth sports teams. Larry and Sally would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this summer. Larry was thrilled to be Grandpa to Lance, Charlotte, and Dempsey (Pete & Summer Otten - Pensacola), and Grace and Neil (Becky & Scott Chuda - Anacortes).

Larry kept busy in retirement. He enjoyed travelling, helping others, learning to sail, attending Seattle sporting events, and participating in numerous mission trips to provide free eye care to impoverished communities locally and abroad. He was active in his local community through the Kirkland Kiwanis Club, VOSH, and St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Bellevue. He was an avid gardener, beekeeper, fisherman, cyclist, pilot, and storyteller.

He passed away April 7, 2022, as a result of a cardiac event. He was surrounded by his loving family at the end and will be missed tremendously by all.

There will be a memorial service to celebrate his life on June 18, 2022, at 1:00 pm at the Sammamish High School's Performing Arts Center in Bellevue.
